Column 1: BSG
I've decided to write a few columns for everyone. This first one is an opinion piece on a television program. Just click the cut for all your columnized needs. ( Battlestar Galactica ) | | Monday, March 12th, 2007 | | 11:49 pm |
Pandora!
Nick posted this on his LJ, thought I'd pass it along. "Pandora" is an internet program that allows you to input a band or a song that you like, and it searches a massive database to recommend other artists or songs that have a similar style. http://www.pandora.com/ | | Saturday, March 10th, 2007 | | 7:52 pm |

Something Serious
A little digression from my AX posts, but as for an update on that; nothing really, yet. I'm having such a difficult time getting a job, but I WILL get one soon! I swear! Wish me luck, or pray, or whatever! *************************** God and RationalitySo I've seen this come up a lot lately, the argument that a belief in God is not rational. One forum I'm a part of ( Something Awful, in case you were wondering) has a fairly large secular atheist population (SA might as well stand for Secular Atheist). Quite frequently really long, long debates erupt over religion and especially over Christianity, usually involving a lot of Christian-hating and jacking off to Richard Dawkins. I never get into these debates, for a lot of reasons, but I wanted to write this here asking for some good responses. The case I often see presented by the atheist is that there is no "rational" or "logical" basis for a belief in God. Now, this is probably a gross oversimplification, but the general basis of "logic" is as follows: Science explains the reasoning behind everything--> there is no testable or empirical evidence to suggest anything supernatural exists--> thus there is no reason to believe that a God exists. Obviously, as I've said, that's a terrible oversimplification of an atheistic belief, but nonetheless, I'd like for us to discuss this. What I'm asking is quite difficult. Some would say it's, in fact, impossible. What I'm asking for you to provide is an argument for God, based in logic and rationality. Now, I've read a lot of good and a lot of terrible arguments for this, but even the good ones have flaws. So I'm going to play the role of Devil's Advocate in this discussion, and challenge certain arguments, simply because I've read plenty of challenges to said arguments. You can post them here, or in your own journal if you want. Either way is fine, but I implore you to PLEASE contribute, as I'm really REALLY getting sick of being called irrational and illogical because I have a belief in God. Essentially, we all need to work together to try to put a good case for our faith together. And please no Pascal's Wager. So, what do you say? Coolest news story ever? http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,91059-1246969,00.htmlSword-Wielding Do-Gooder Updated: 15:11, Thursday January 11, 2007 Police are trying to trace a mysterious samurai sword-wielding vigilante who came to the rescue of two officers when they were being attacked by an armed gang. The officers had been set upon after they tried to disrupt a burglary at a flat in Laygate, South Shields. A group of men had knocked on the door pretending to be policemen before forcing their way in to ransack the place. The passing plain-clothes officers were alerted when a woman inside started screaming, and went to help. However, they were outnumbered, and the criminals were armed with a hammer, knives and a metal chain. One of them lunged at a policeman with his knife - but just as he did so, a mysterious do-gooder appeared from nowhere and attacked him with a samurai sword. One of the burglars ran off, but was stopped by the stranger, who hit him on the arm with the sword. He was arrested, along with another man from the flat, but in true superhero fashion the samurai man disappeared before police could speak to him. A third man was arrested later. Two men are still being hunted. Police are particularly keen to trace the man with the sword who came to the aid of their officers, and appealed for anyone with information to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. | | Saturday, January 13th, 2007 | | 10:44 pm |

Phone Problems =( UPDATE: As of today, my phone seems to be working again. If anyone wants to help me make sure of that, gimme a call some time.Just a heads-up to everyone, my phone is being all wonky. Whenever I make calls, I hear my voice through the speaker, and the person on the other end can't hear me. We're calling up Cingular to try to figure out the problem. My mother and I have two of the same phones, and the same thing's happening to her phone. So, I'll update when I get any news. Oh, and we're thinking that it's Cingular and not our phones, so yeah. | | Thursday, December 7th, 2006 | | 3:02 am |

Internet Drama!
Man, am I ever sick of all this internet drama flying around lately. Honestly, guys, if you're mad at me for some reason, please come and tell me so. But not only that, it's all this friggin' forum drama. I'm not going to participate in this BS any longer. It's all just a bit too ridiculous. Everyone is mad at everyone else and no one can just be friends and get on with life. I'm done with all these places. I'm not mad either, by the way. This isn't supposed to be some annoyed rant, I'm just saying that it's all really ridiculous. So a proposition I have! Why don't ya'll take a break? Just take a little break. A week, a month, however long you need. Just STOP with all the pointless drama! | | Friday, November 10th, 2006 | | 6:01 am |

NATIONAL JOHNNIE DAY THIS SATURDAY IS NATIONAL JOHNNIE DAY
That's right, folks. Tomorrow (US time) is Saturday, and that means it's National Johnnie Day, where we all celebrate our most favourite South-Africanian fellow, folks! FOLKS YOU!
So is everyone clear on that? We're celebrating him this Saturday, tomorrow (well, technically it already is tomorrow). Current Mood: ftw | | Thursday, July 6th, 2006 | | 2:13 am |
